The Music Ministries of Saint Mary Parish is an integral part of the Eucharistic Celebration. We are currently looking to grow this ministry and need skilled singers and amateurs alike. There's room for everyone.  The only prerequisite is that you love to sing and you love the Lord.  Don't worry; you'll learn as you go along without even realizing it.  

Save the Date!  9th Annual Celebrate Priesthood will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, at SAINT PAUL DIOCESAN JR./SR. High School, 144 Granite Street, Worcester. "Our gala is a wonderful opportunity for the faithful to offer their thanks for all the priests, living and deceased for the many sacrifices that they have given and the joyful witness they still give. The priests of our diocese have been and continue to be integral to the life of all Catholics," -Bishop McManus

Mary is the Mother who patiently and lovingly brings us to God so that He can untangle the knots of our soul......Pope Francis Nine Tuesday evenings from October 10 thru December 5 at 6:45 pm in St. Mary’s Church. The novena prayers and rosary take place during Eucharistic Adoration which is held every Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

At the start of another school year, we want to thank the St. Mary School Parent Association for sponsoring SUNDAY COFFEE after the 9:00 am Mass in our renewed parish hall.

Do you have piano skills you’d like to share? Our children’s choir needs a volunteer accompanist for their rehearsals. They meet on Wednesday, from 4:15 to 5:15. The adult choir will be singing once again at our 11:00 Mass beginning on 9/24. We are looking for all voice types (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) and welcome all skill levels. ​​​​​​​Our organist, Matt Jaskot, will be directing us from the bench.  We are excited to begin a new chapter under his leadership and learn from his depth of knowledge and experience! This will be a time of rebuilding – so we need your voice! Come discover the  joy of praising God through music. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ST. MARY FAMILY FESTIVAL GRAND RAFFLE WINNERS!!

It has been a busy summer at. St. Mary’s since our Church Renovation project began at the end of June. Because of the challenges with construction and renovation projects that we are all facing at this point in time, it was decided to divide the work into two phases. The first is the work that has been taking place this summer which required closing the church for weekend and daily Masses. That work is nearing comple- tion, and we will be able to return to our church for Masses next weekend  September 10 & 11. Yes, just in time for our Centennial Mass! Whew!

St. Mary’s Parish was established on September 10, 1922 by Bishop Thomas O’Leary, Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield, who also on the same day named Fr. Thomas McKoan the first resident pastor for the town of Shrewsbury. St. Theresa’s Church on Main Street continued to be used as the parish church while the mission in the Lake Shore area was moved from the Palais Royal, first to a tent on the grounds behind St. Anne’s Cemetery and then to the old dye building across the street.

The ending weeks of August are always hectic, busy and even exciting as students and their families begin a new school year. As students were finishing up their summer reading, I had the opportunity to read more about the early days of St. Mary’s and St. Anne’s in Shrewsbury and St. Mary of the Hills in Boylston. This September 10th marks the 100th anniversary of St. Mary’s Parish and the appointment of Fr. Thomas F. McKoan as the first Pastor . Happy 100th Birthday St. Mary’s Parish! We are looking forward to celebrating our 100th Anniversary on September 11th with a Mass & Reception as we open a year long observance of our centennial. Please be sure to join us!
