• Sponsors are not required to attend the rehearsal.   
  • For the Anointing, sponsors should stand behind the candidate with their right hand on the candidate's right shoulder. The short 1 minute video under the Sponsor information below demonstrates this.
• The rehearsal will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Shrewsbury on Sunday, October 26th
• Every Confirmation candidate will be assigned a number that will stand for their position in the line-up. We will provide this information at the Rehearsal.
• Please arrive at the church by 6:30 PM.  Your prompt arrival will ensure that the rehearsal begins and concludes within the desired time frame. 
• Confirmation robes with the candidates’ names on them will be available at the rehearsal. Please, remember to pick these up on your way home. Some of them may need light ironing.

The Confirmation Mass is approximately 90 minutes.    

Arrival Time:  

Students and sponsors are required to be in the parish hall at 9:30 AM.

Dress Code

All candidates will wear Confirmation robes over their clothes. Robes may be taken off for photos with the bishop.

• Boys: Appropriate wear for church. We suggest khakis, button down shirt, and tie. Blazer/sports coat/jacket is optional.  No denim please.  
• Girls: Dress, Skirt and top or “dressy pants” and top. No denim please.  

• Arrival Time:  Students and sponsors must be in the hall at 9:30 AM.
• You will process into the Church with the candidate.
• Following the Homily, the Bishop will face the congregation and invite candidates to stand to renew their Baptismal Promises.  Sponsors should remain seated.
• Facing the congregation, the Bishop will then invite the candidates to kneel for the Laying on of Hands.  Sponsors should stand along with the rest of the congregation. 
• All will then be seated, and candidates and sponsors will process up the aisle from both sides to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (Anointing with Chrism).
