The Mustard Seed
St. Mary's parishioners and religious education classes have the opportunity to volunteer on the third Wednesday of each month (September - June) by sponsoring, preparing, and serving a meal. The Mustard Seed on Piedmont Street in Worcester, MA, is a well-known community soup kitchen that serves hot meals to individuals and families. St. Mary's has been serving there since the 1970s, and we are thankful for the many volunteers who have participated in this ministry over the years. Thank you to Maryanne Damico for coordinating this ministry for many years, and to the parishioners and families that donate monthly towards the cost of the meals we provide.

Address: 93 Piedmont St, Worcester, MA 01609. Parking is limited so we recommend carpooling.
You will be serving approximately 120 people.
Volunteers should arrive at the Mustard Seed at 4:30 pm; serving begins at 5:00 PM.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for families with teens.

Sponsor a meal -place an envelope in the collection marked “Mustard Seed Donation.”
Donate dessert items - Drop off dessert items on Tuesday or Wednesday morning of our serving week in the baskets at the church entrances.

CAROLING TO THE HOMEBOUND
Help us bring comfort and joy to the homebound Parishioners of St. Mary's Parish before Christmas.
We'll gather at St. Mary's in the Pastoral Center parking lot from 6:00 PM - 6:15PM before heading out. Depending on our sign-up count, we'll divide into groups or families. Each group will visit three homes singing two carols and leaving each parishioner with a treat before returning home after their final visit. Song books will be provided!

Coordinator:FISH FRY DELIVERIES TO THE HOMEBOUND
We have a special opportunity to serve our homebound parishioners each year during our annual Lenten Fish Fry! We are looking for volunteers to deliver a warm Fish & Chips meal to those unable to join us in person.
Here's what our volunteers do:- Pick up one to-go meal at 4:15 PM in the Parish Hall.
- Deliver it to a homebound parishioners.

Each year we organize several volunteer opportunities for parishioners and families to participate in as a parish family on a single day. Whether you enjoy painting, sorting donations, cleaning, serving at a food pantry, or visiting with a homebound parishioner, we have a project that is perfect for you and your family.

The Giving Tree at St. Mary’s gives the parishioners an opportunity to provide grocery gift cards to St. Anne’s Human Services to help those in need. The Giving Tree also gives parishioners the opportunity to help the clients of Catholic Charities provide gifts for their children by giving them gift cards to Target and Walmart.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
St. Mary's Prayer Shawl Ministry meets monthly to knit and pray over our shawls. Shawls are distributed by request to bring comfort to those who are ill or bereaved. Shawls may be requested by calling Deborah Koziara. New members are always welcome to join us. We meet on the first Thursday or each month @ 10:30 AM in Mary's Room of the Pastoral Center.

Rosary at Shrewsbury Crossings
St. Mary’s serves all Catholic residents @ Shrewsbury Nursing Home with 2 Masses per month, and with a monthly Mass at Shrewsbury Crossings. A parish volunteer also leads a monthly recitation of the Rosary at both facilities, as well. Service offering Sacrament of the Sick (Anointing) is also offered by the parish priests, both at SNH and at St. Mary’s.
