Liturgy Committee
This committee is made up of the heads of liturgical ministries and other members of the St. Mary's community. Participants assist in planning the liturgical life of the parish, especially those celebrations that highlight the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. The purpose of the Liturgy Committee is to create an ever-more enriching environment within which to worship. Our goal is to foster the building up of the Body of Christ through active participation in the liturgy.
Parishioners interested in helping to plan, coordinate, and evaluate the liturgical events are invited to join the committee, which meets once a month for two hours.

During the training, we'll walk through the responsibilities of each ministry, answer your questions, and help you feel comfortable and prepared to serve.
We want every minister to feel prepared, confident, and supported. Whether you're considering serving for the first time or have been serving for years. -
Liturgical Ministry
Each week, hundreds of parishioners gather at Mass to pray, worship, and grow in faith. What if the next step in your faith journey was simply becoming more involved in the liturgy you're already attending?
Liturgical ministry isn't about adding one more commitment to your already busy schedule. It's about sharing your gifts while you're already here and helping create a welcoming, prayerful, and vibrant worship experience for our parish community.
Whether you feel called to serve as a Greeter, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, or Altar Server, there is a place for you.
Your presence matters. Your gifts matter. And our parish is stronger when we share them.

Sacristan
Sacristans assist the celebrating priest by preparing the essentials for Mass, setting the Altar, and ensuring that the vessels, the bread and wine, and all that is needed are laid out correctly for Mass. Sacristans also help to ensure proper coverage for extraordinary ministers and lectors.
Our scheduled Sacristans are 18 and over.
- Time Commitment: Sacristans arrive 20 minutes before their scheduled Mass to set everything up. They spend approximately 15 minutes after the Mass to ensure everything is cleaned and returned to its proper and secure place.
- Training: Initial formation and training are offered.
- Scheduling: Sacristans serve on a rotating basis according to their availability and preferred Mass time.

Lector
Being a lector is a great way to deepen your appreciation of sacred Scripture and assist your fellow parishioners at Mass to hear the Word of God clearly and prayerfully.
Lectors are expected to prepare for the readings on their scheduled days by reviewing each of them beforehand. A “Workbook for Lectors, Gospel Readers, and Proclaimers of the Word” is provided to all Lectors to assist with this preparation.
Our scheduled Lectors must be at least 16 years old.- Time Commitment: 30 minutes of preparation before your scheduled Mass. Arrive in the Sacristy at least 15 minutes before your scheduled Mass.
- Training: Initial formation and training are offered.
- Scheduling: Lectors typically serve one to two times per quarterly schedule according to their availability and preferred Mass time.
Eucharistic Minister
Eucharistic Ministers serve the parish community by sharing the mystery that makes us one. Those involved in this ministry often feel joy and fulfillment much greater than any effort or sacrifice they make. It is a ministry worth discovering—a ministry worth your service!
Our Eucharistic Ministers are confirmed students and adults.- Time Commitment: Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled Mass.
- Training: Initial formation and training are offered.
- Scheduling: Eucharistic Ministers typically serve two times per month on a rotating basis according to their availability and preferred Mass time.
Altar Server
The role of the server is integral to the celebration of the Eucharist and an essential service to the parish community. Servers carry the cross and the processional candles. They hold the book for the priest when he is not at the altar. They carry the incense and censer and present the bread, wine, and water to the priest during the preparation of the gifts and assist him when he receives the gifts from the people. It is a beautiful way our younger parishioners can take an active role in the Mass.
Altar Servers are students in grades 4 - 12 who have received their First Communion.- Time Commitment: Altar Servers arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled Mass.

- Scheduling: Altar Servers typically serve on a rotating basis according to their availability and preferred Mass time.

A Greeter's #1 priority is making everyone feel welcome and at home at St. Mary's Parish. Greeters ensure parishioners and visitors that arrive for Mass are greeted with a smile and a friendly "Hello." Greeters also answer basic questions about the parish and facility for those visiting or new.
Our scheduled Greeters can be students, families, or adults.- Time Commitment: Greeters arrive 20 minutes before their scheduled Mass.
- Training: Initial formation and training are offered.
- Scheduling: Greeters typically serve on a rotating basis according to their availability and preferred Mass time.

Ushers
Ushers assist with the offertory collection and help to ensure that the collection baskets are safely gathered and placed in a secure location.
- Time Commitment: Service during Mass at the offertory.
- Who are our Ushers? Adults over the age of 18.
- Training: Initial formation and training are offered.
- Scheduling: We currently do not schedule Ushers.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
The Children's Liturgy of the Word is facilitated during the 9:00 am Mass. The Liturgy of the Word with Children is a worship experience for children. It mirrors the experience of the larger community with a style that is engaging and interactive. Children gather with their families in the church for the Introductory Rites to the Mass. After the opening prayer, children are called to the altar and blessed before they process to the Large Meeting Room, where the Leader will share the Sunday readings. They return after the Prayer of the Faithful to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with the entire community.

Members of this committee plan the liturgical environment of the church throughout the year with a special emphasis on the seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter.

Adult Choir
We want to grow this ministry and need skilled singers and amateurs alike. There's room for everyone. The only prerequisite is that you love to sing and you love the Lord. Don't worry; you'll learn as you go along without realizing it.
Our choir sings at our 11 AM Mass from September through May. Rehearsals are held before Mass each Sunday, so the commitment is only 2 hours a week, and we can be flexible with your schedule, too, if needed.
Our organist, Matt Jaskot, will be directing us from the bench. We are excited to begin a new chapter under his leadership and learn from his depth of knowledge and experience!

The St. Mary’s Parish Children’s Choir rehearses every on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00. Children in grades 3 - 8 are invited to join us. New members are always welcome to come and give us a try. The rehearsal schedule and Mass schedule for 2024 is listed below.

Do you play an instrument like the flute, oboe, violin, or trumpet and want to contribute? Instruments have been used to praise God since before the scriptures were written. Instrumentalists are needed to play at special liturgies throughout the year, add beauty to our music, and enhance our worship.

Christmas Pageant
The Christmas Pageant is performed on Christmas Eve during the 7:00 p.m. Mass. Each year we need one or two coordinators to help coordinate it, including sign-ups, organize and clean the costumes, provide direction at the rehearsal, and the performance itself. There is usually one rehearsal the week of Christmas. We encourage children and families to participate, as there is a role for everyone! We have the script and costumes ready.
Living Stations of the Cross
Children of all ages and teens participate in the Living Stations of the Cross which take place on Good Friday at 3:30 pm. Each year we need one or two coordinators to help coordinate it, including sign-ups, organize and clean the costumes, provide direction at the rehearsal, and the performance itself. There is usually one rehearsal on the Monday of Holy Week in the church. There are plenty of speaking and non-speaking roles.
