As we come together today to celebrate the great Feast of the Resurrection, let us rejoice in the hope and promise that Christ’s victory over death brings to all of us. For 40 days during Lent we have prepared for this day. This past week we remembered Jesus’ Last Supper, Passion and Death on the Cross. And now we celebrate his Resurrection. The Lenten fasting has ended and the Easter feasting begins. We will celebrate Easter for the next 50 days!
I want to express my deep thanks to the many people who helped to make our liturgies of Holy Week and Easter such inspiring and faith-filled celebrations. Thank-you to Marti Page, Matt Jaskot and the adult choir members, Charles Nwachuku, Stephanie Sarkisian, and cantors for the wonderful music which enriched our liturgies so much. Thank-you to Fr. Jose and the members of the Liturgy Committee for the careful attention given to planning our celebrations. We are grateful to Lisa Ferguson, Marie Cicuto and the Art & Environment Committee for all their efforts decorating the church and parish hall for Holy Week and Easter.
Thanks to the lectors, ministers of communion, altar servers, greeters and ushers for serving in these ministries throughout the year. Thank you to Susan Zybert for coordinating the Palm Sunday passion readers and all those who assisted and participated in the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. Thank-you to the parish staff for your extra efforts throughout Lent and Holy Week.
May the Lord bless you, your families and all of us at St. Mary’s throughout this Easter season. May we experience the joy and the promise that Jesus’ Resurrection brings this year even to a divided country and a war-torn world. Happy Easter! Msgr. Mike
